UTTARAKHAND IN THE 2012 STATE ELECTION

Both the BJP (Bharatiya Janta Party) and INC (Indian National Congress) won around 30 seats in the 2012 Uttarakhand election. And if we see where these seats are, the INC won seats more in the north while BJP's seats are towards the south. This cuts across the state's traditional division between Kumaon and Garhwal, which is more of an east-west divide.
