PUNJAB IN THE 2012 STATE ELECTION

The regional party SAD, or the Shiromani Akali Dal, won the most seats in the 2012 election for Punjab's state legislature. It won 56 out of 117 seats while its election alliance partner BJP (Bharatiya Janta Party) won 12. The INC (Indian National Congress) won most of the other seats with 46 spread around the state.
